Churches of Christ Care Barcoo Living Multi Purpose Service Blackall
Churches of Christ Care Barcoo Living Multi Purpose Service Blackall is a multi-purpose facility providing services ranging from high and low level care to respite care, as well as home-based care. The Barcoo Living Multi Purpose Service is an innovative new model of service delivery which is the first service in Australia to operate under a tripartite agreement between Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, State Health Department and a non-government organisation, Care.
The Barcoo Living Multi Purpose Service (MPS) is a joint Commonwealth and State/Territory initiative for rural and remote communities offering 15 high care and 10 low care positions to eligible seniors. It allows the local community and service providers to work together under one management structure to plan and improve health and aged care services. This gives small communities having difficulty supporting a range of independently run services the opportunity to develop a more coordinated and cost-effective approach to service delivery.
Nursing home and hostel accommodation
McLean Place provides accommodation for 15 residents with both high and low levels of care in private rooms with ensuite facilities. All rooms have easy access to shared areas and the wide verandah. A gazebo, located in the gardens, is popular with residents and visitors. Secure accommodation is also provided for residents with special needs. Permanent and respite care are offered.
Personal care services
Although our residents are encouraged to maintain independence with their everyday living tasks if extra assistance is needed, our staff are able to help with personal hygiene, medication, dressing, dementia and emotional support, mobility, meal assistance, rehabilitation, communication and socialisation support.
